(Biography as per the band's MySpace page).

Aggressive, Melodic, Intense, Hard, Emotional, Heavy, Driving, In Your Face, Fancy. That's right, Dead and Divine is not afraid to call themselves fancy, or even call their new record "The Fanciful". Jumping away from cliché metal bands in their scene, Dead and Divine has created another lyrical masterpiece with ‘The Fanciful’. The Fanciful refers to the imaginary and the unreal, reflected in the album concept by the constant struggle between reality and illusion, heaven and hell, and passion and misfortune. Honest, thought provoking, and unafraid, Singer/Lyricist Matt Tobin sings with a Morrissey-like fearlessness and attitude, and with a maturity that goes well beyond the bands average age of only 20.

Touring like crazy since the 2005 release ‘What Really Happened At Lover’s Lane’, Dead and Divine shows no sign of slowing down. With a 50 date Canadian tour booked around the release of their new album, all cylinders are literally firing for this quintet. Playing everyday for almost 2 months, there is no band that could be considered harder working than these boys from Burlington, ON. ‘We love touring’ says bassist Kellan Lindsay. ‘Some bands complain about touring but we can’t get enough of it. To us there’s nothing better than getting in the van and playing our music every night.’

With influences ranging all the way from Poison the Well to Paramore, and Smashing Pumpkins to Blue Rodeo, the band took some chances this time adding some very different instrumentation. Harmonicas, Slide guitars along with a huge variety of percussion adds a huge dynamic to the album. Producer Kris Crummett (Drop Dead Gorgeous, Fear Before The March of Flames) brought out some amazing performances and also had some ideas to incorporate some of the early 90’s influences into the modern metal sounds of the band. ‘Kris wanted to record a raw, organic and real sounding album’ explains Matt Tobin. ‘He loves that 90’s stuff, and so do we, and it seemed to come together so naturally.’ Guitarists Dave McGuire and Chris Lemasters provide not only bone crushing metal riffs, but also melodic and tuneful lead patterns, and even bust out some acoustic guitars on ‘Something I’ve Rehearsed’ and ‘To The Moon and Back’. ‘A lot of older bands weren’t afraid to step out of their genre here and there’ Matt continues. ‘It made records more dynamic and far more interesting. It seems like these days bands are just copying each other and just trying to be heavier. We are striving to make the best records possible’. And that they have done. With an amazing live show, and a great work ethic and attitude, Dead and Divine are taking this band to The Moon and Back.
